Health care in Turkey consists of a combination of public and private health services. Turkey has universal health care under its Universal Health Insurance system.

There is a substantial medical tourism business in Turkey, with almost 178000 tourists visiting for health purposes in the first six months of 2018. 67% used private hospital, 24% public hospitals and 9% university hospitals. The Regulation on International Health Tourism and Tourist Health came into force on July 13th 2017. It only applies to those coming specifically for treatment. The number of the international patients is increasing every year.

There are advantages for international patients to get the medical care in Turkey especially such as being economic and safe.

When the medical treatment prices are compared to UK, United States, Canada and European countries; the prices are to be much lower and the saving percentage is between %50- %65.

In Turkey every year tourism is focused mostly on a variety of historical places, and seaside resorts along its Aegean and Mediterranean Seacoasts. Turkey has also become a popular destination for culture, spa, and health care.

Turkey has ranking as the 6th most popular tourist destination in the World and it is declared as 39,5 million visitors in 2018.


Istanbul is one of the most important tourism spots not only in Turkey but also in the world. There are thousands of hotels and other tourist-oriented industries in the city, catering to both vacationers and visiting professionals. Turkey's largest city and metropolis and a leading global city, Istanbul, has a number of major attractions derived from its historical status as capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. These include the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (the "Blue Mosque"), the Hagia Sophia, the Topkapı Palace, the Basilica Cistern, the Dolmabahçe Palace, the Galata Tower, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar, and the Pera Palace Hotel. Istanbul has also recently become one of the biggest shopping centers of the European region by hosting malls and shopping centers, such as Metrocity, Akmerkez and Cevahir Mall, which is the biggest mall in Europe and seventh largest shopping center in the world. Other attractions include sporting events, museums, and cultural events. There is the Istanbul Airport which has been built in 2018 as the world's one of the largest airports.
